With the decision taken at the Presidential Cabinet meeting held on April 12, 2022, amendments were made to the law allowing foreigners to apply for Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate. It was announced that the minimum amount is increased to $400,000.

The minimum amount for the application to acquire Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate was determined as $250,000 which has been in effect since 2018. At the cabinet meeting held on April 12, 2022, the minimum real estate amount was determined as $400,000 or in foreign currency equivalent to this amount.

Change in Turkish Citizenship by Real Estate InvestmentFor Turkish citizenship applications, it is obligatory to give an annotation to the land registry that the purchased property will not be transferred or sold for 3 years.

In line with the decision taken at the cabinet meeting, the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law will be amended and the decisions are expected to enter into force by being published in the Official Gazette in the upcoming days.
